64% of Filipinos Support Passage of Anti-Political Dynasty Law – Pulse Asia Survey
MANILA, Philippines — A strong majority of Filipinos support the passage of a law banning political dynasties, according to the latest survey conducted by Pulse Asia.
The survey, conducted from February 27 to March 2, 2026, found that 64% of Filipino respondents favor the enactment of an Anti-Political Dynasty Law, reflecting widespread public demand for political reforms in the country.
Political dynasties have long been a major issue in the Philippines, where members of the same family often hold multiple government positions simultaneously or succeed one another in public office. Critics say this concentration of power limits political competition and reduces opportunities for new leaders to emerge.
The 1987 Philippine Constitution mandates the state to prohibit political dynasties as may be defined by law. However, despite decades of debate, Congress has yet to pass a comprehensive measure implementing the constitutional provision.
Analysts say the survey results signal growing public frustration with entrenched political families and a stronger push for legislation that would regulate or restrict dynastic control in government.
The issue is expected to remain a key topic in national political discussions, particularly as the country moves closer to future electoral cycles.
