VATICAN CITY — Pope Leo XIV has announced that Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati will be canonized together on Sunday, September 7, 2025, marking a historic moment for the Catholic Church and young Catholics around the world.

Originally, Acutis’ canonization was set for April 27 and Frassati’s for August 3, but both dates were revised following the death of Pope Francis in April. The Vatican confirmed during a consistory on June 13 that the two beloved figures will now be declared saints together — a powerful symbol of modern youth holiness.

Carlo Acutis: The Cyber Apostle
Born in 1991 and passing away at just 15 years old in 2006 due to leukemia, Carlo Acutis is known globally as the “Cyber Apostle of the Eucharist.” A tech-savvy teenager, he used his digital skills to build a website cataloging Eucharistic miracles around the world. He was beatified in Assisi in 2020, where his tomb continues to draw thousands of pilgrims each year.

Pier Giorgio Frassati: Faith in Action
Pier Giorgio Frassati, born in 1901, was a mountain-climbing social activist who died in 1925 from polio contracted while serving the poor. Beatified in 1990 by Pope John Paul II, Frassati is admired for his joyful witness and hands-on faith. He has been a key figure at World Youth Day events and remains a role model for Catholic youth seeking to live a life of service and devotion.

Global Canonization Ceremony
The September 7 canonization is expected to draw massive crowds to Rome, as both Acutis and Frassati are icons of youthful, active Catholicism in the modern age. Their joint sainthood sends a clear message: holiness is achievable today, even in the digital and fast-paced world of the 21st century.

More Canonizations Set for October 19
In addition to Acutis and Frassati, seven other blesseds will be canonized on October 19, including Bartolo Longo, Peter To Rot, and José Gregorio Hernández — figures known for their contributions to faith, medicine, and martyrdom.

A New Era of Modern Saints
Carlo and Pier Giorgio’s canonization marks a new chapter in the Church’s celebration of youth, innovation, and social action. Their lives prove that sainthood is not only for the cloistered or ancient — it’s a call for all, especially the young, to live with radical love and faith in today’s world.
