From Aparri to Sorsogon: Two Warriors Push On in the 672-Mile Endurance Run

The LUZON 672-Mile Endurance Run 2026 is testing the limits of human endurance as athletes tackle one of the country’s longest and most grueling ultra-distance races. Covering 672 miles from Aparri, Cagayan to Sorsogon City, the race runs from January 20 to February 1, 2026, with a strict 288-hour time limit, rain or shine. Among the trailblazers is Sherwin Dune Quindara of Palayan City, Nueva Ecija, a newcomer who began ultramarathons in 2025. Despite his longest previous distance being only 69 miles, Quindara became the first official entrant, demonstrating remarkable courage and determination in taking on this historic challenge.
The field also features experienced runners who bring years of ultra-distance knowledge to the race. Dennies “Ednnies Jornet” Lajada of Caloocan City, Metro Manila, has been competing since 2017 and has completed distances of up to 217 miles, making him a formidable competitor. Gerich Dijamco of Tarlac City, Tarlac, started ultramarathons in 2022 and has steadily pushed his limits with a personal best of 164 miles, proving that persistence and resilience can take a runner far.
Veteran endurance runners complete the lineup, bringing unmatched experience to the challenge. Virgilio Undaloc Jr. of Catbalogan City, Samar, has been running ultramarathons since 2012, with a longest distance of 434 miles, making him the most seasoned runner in the 2026 field. Nehemias Ian Piza of Lasam, Cagayan, also a veteran since 2012, has conquered distances of up to 217 miles and is among the elite participants. As these runners press on across Luzon’s punishing terrain, their journeys reflect not only physical strength, but also discipline, mental toughness, and unwavering dedication, capturing the true spirit of ultra-endurance running.
