Lea Salonga to Receive Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Filipino Broadway legend Lea Salonga will soon join the ranks of global entertainment icons, as she is set to receive a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame, according to a report by Billboard.
The Tony Award-winning singer and actress is one of 35 honorees selected for the Walk of Fame Class of 2025. The honorees span various categories including recordings, motion pictures, television, live theater/performance, and sports entertainment.
Salonga took to Instagram to share the “amazing news,” expressing her gratitude to the Manila International Film Festival for nominating her. “I am beyond honored,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories, adding that she feels proud to represent Filipinos on the global stage.
Ceremony dates for the recipients have not yet been scheduled. Billboard notes that honorees have up to two years from their selection date to set a ceremony before the offer expires.
Salonga joins a diverse list of new Walk of Fame stars, including Miley Cyrus, Rami Malek, Timothée Chalamet, Emily Blunt, Chef Gordon Ramsay, and Shaquille O’Neal, among others.
This milestone adds another accolade to Salonga’s illustrious career, which includes her historic Tony win for Miss Saigon, voice roles in Disney classics Aladdin and Mulan, and countless performances on international stages.
