Robredo Narrows Gap as Duterte Leads Early 2028 Presidential Survey; Tulfo Tops VP Race
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte remains the leading choice for president in the 2028 elections, securing 51 percent support in a recent survey, while former Vice President and Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo follows closely with 41 percent.
The survey results come even before major developments expected to shape the political landscape, including Duterte’s upcoming impeachment trial in the Senate, the formal filing of certificates of candidacy, and the announcement of possible presidential and vice-presidential tandems.
For the vice presidency, Sen. Erwin Tulfo emerged as the frontrunner with 46 percent support, ahead of Sen. Robin Padilla, who garnered 38 percent.
Political observers note that the figures remain highly fluid, with nearly two years left before the 2028 national elections. Campaigns have yet to officially begin, and no major political alliances or running mates have been announced.
Despite the early stage of the race, the survey has already sparked intense discussion among supporters of various political camps, with many closely watching how upcoming events could affect voter sentiment.
Analysts say the eventual impeachment proceedings, candidate declarations, and coalition-building efforts may significantly reshape the current standings as the country moves closer to the next presidential election.
