BREAKING: Zubiri seeks removal of Marcos’ ‘con-ass’ claims from Senate record, calls it “propaganda tool”

breaking-news-zubiri-marcos-senateMANILA — Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri has pushed back against statements made by Sen. Imee Marcos, calling for their removal from the Senate record after she raised claims involving an alleged constitutional assembly (“con-ass”), which he described as misleading and politically charged.

During a recent plenary session, Marcos alleged a supposed plan by the Senate minority to take over leadership in the chamber, linking it to broader claims about charter change and efforts that could affect a potential 2028 presidential bid of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Zubiri rejected the allegations, insisting the presentation was opinion-based and amounted to a “propaganda tool” that had no place in official proceedings. He stressed that the minority bloc had not discussed any constitutional assembly or charter change initiatives.

He also argued that the statements unfairly implicated fellow lawmakers using politically charged labels, saying such remarks should not be included in official Senate records. Zubiri further called on colleagues to exercise restraint and avoid using the chamber for personal or political attacks.

The senator emphasized that disagreements should be handled properly and directly, warning against what he described as public smear tactics that could drag uninvolved officials into controversy.
