Standout National Costumes Shine at Miss Universe Philippines 2026 Ahead of Coronation Night
The Miss Universe Philippines 2026 national costume competition was recently staged in Pangasinan, adding cultural depth and regional spotlight to this year’s pageant as it nears its coronation night.
According to a report by Earl D.C. Bracamonte, the event highlighted the creativity and cultural storytelling of this year’s candidates, each presenting costumes inspired by local traditions, religious heritage, and environmental themes.
Among the standout contestants was Allyson Hetland of Pampanga, who showcased a “Libad”-inspired ensemble reflecting a fluvial festival along the Pampanga River. The design emphasized movement and devotion, translating a communal religious practice into a striking visual narrative.
Apriel Smith of Cebu City also impressed with a Señor Santo Niño-inspired costume that blended religious symbolism with pageantry elegance, while Jen Rose Javier of Sultan Kudarat took a different approach with a marine-themed piece inspired by the Kalamansig Marine Sanctuary, highlighting biodiversity and environmental awareness.
Other candidates, including representatives from Bacoor, Cebu Province, Cotabato Province, and Laguna, presented equally compelling designs, each offering a unique interpretation of Filipino identity through fashion.
The national costume segment remains one of the most anticipated parts of Miss Universe Philippines 2026, allowing candidates to go beyond traditional pageantry and showcase advocacy, artistry, and cultural pride.
With the coronation night fast approaching, the competition continues to intensify, as remaining segments such as the swimsuit and evening gown rounds will play a crucial role in determining who will take home the crown.
